Emily will be showing our young people how nature is connected to Art using various mediums. Emily has many years under her belt teaching home educated young people. She is very creative and brings in the most exciting projects to do.
Pumpkin carving will be happening on 30th October for a fun Halloween activity.
Term 6 nature study/ botanical sketchbook
In this class, we will be exploring botanical illustration and nature study with the creation of a paper nature journal. Students will learn how science and art can overlap. The class will focus on sketching and watercolor techniques in a notebook. Students that wish to further explore different mediums or digital botanical sketchbooks, may use a portion of class time for this if desired, particularly if this is more accessible/inclusive for the student. Please see supply list below.
Pre-requisites/class expectations:
Students must be able to respect personal space and keep their hands to themselves. Students must be able to focus on a task for at least 5-10 minutes at a time and return to tasks after short breaks with minimal verbal reminders. Students who need constant verbal reminders to adhere to these requirements may need to bring an adult for support. Phones will be kept at Keira’s desk and can be accessed by students as needed, but will not be brought to class unless needed for medical reasons.
Supplies essential:
1 watercolor set - if you want to use your own set
1 set of good quality brushes - If yuo want to use your own set
Pencils/drawing pen - black ink. - these items should be in your basic pencil case items.
Field work/trip:
We are hoping to arrange a field trip to the Shirley Sherwood gallery in Kew gardens. This is TBC
