Being able to make something out of wood is one of the most rewarding and practically useful skills one can have.
Many parents are interested in acquiring carpentry skills as well and so Spiritus is opening up woodwork for them to join in too if they wish, although of course young people can attend on their own as well.
Projects for kids may include making a Mason Bee House, a Bookend, a Birdhouse or a One Board Minimalist Chair. Parents may like to make a herb rack designed to fit their kitchen or any other doable project idea. Where possible we try and use reclaimed wood which is environmentally more sound and also means the wood is free, however sometimes wood needs to be purchased for some projects and in these instances, materials charges will apply.
We have acquired a large wardrobe which will be used for tool storage and we are in the process of acquiring more tools to add to our collection.
Under the expert guidance of Hazel and Teilo, a passionate mother-son duo, your child will embark on a woodworking journey filled with fun, learning, and creation.
What your child will learn:
Essential woodworking techniques: Master the art of using hand tools safely and effectively while exploring different types of wood.
Attention to detail: Develop patience, focus, and the ability to bring ideas to life with precision.
Creativity and problem-solving: Explore their imagination while learning to overcome challenges and find innovative solutions.
